Professor of Finance and International Business, Georgetown University, USA.

Economics vs. Biology in the Global Economy

Free trade and globalization have delivered, for most countries, benefits of increased incomes and improved standards of living. Nevertheless, much recent work in psychology and biology suggests that people value justice and fair play at least as much as they do increased wealth. Can the study of economics be adapted to account for human preferences for fairness and equality?

Pietra Rivoli, author of the best selling book, The Travels of a T-Shirt in the Global Economy, translated in many languages, will discuss the benefits and costs of rapid globalization in the context of recent research.

A welcome reception will follow, a unique opportunity to meet participants from 60 countries from all continents.
