Bettina Laville

Bettina Laville holds a PhD in literature.


From 1992 onwards she was the French government’s chief coordinator for the UN “Earth Summit” conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and moved on to the French president’s office as adviser in charge of environmental affairs and sustainable development until May 1995.


Bettina Laville is the founder of the first environmental film festival and is a co-founder of Comité 21 (French Committee for the Environment and Sustainable Development). Between 1996 and 2001 she was an elected member of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Currently, she is a sitting member of France’s Council of State.
